We love movies
We used to enjoy going to the movies, but no longer.
Why? It is explained here.
But why two-piece projection?
1. Did you realize that watching a new HDTV, you are essentially staring into a lightbulb, a very bright one? This causes eye strain after a while.
Projection is reflective, and causes less eyestrain, which is why you can watch movies for a longer time.
2. Bulb life. It used to be bulbs lasted about 300 hours, so they were used for "movie nights" and the bulbs were really expensive.
Newer bulb and laser technology extend bulb life from 10,000 - 30,000 hours.
That is 8 hours a day, 365 days a year for between 3 and 9 years.
3. "I don't have room" and/or "There is too much light"
Depending on the size of the screen, standard 4K projectors sit between 8-14' from the screen.
Ultra short throw can be less than a foot for a 100" projection
Also, with brighter projectors and new Ambient Light Rejection material from Screen Innovations, take out bright rooms as a factor.
You don't have an excuse anymore.
Welcome to 4K the right way, huge!
